Bangalore’s weather has always kept me on my toes. One minute I’m sipping hot chocolate in my breezy balcony ,soaking up the sun, and the next I’m rummaging for a jacket because it suddenly feels like Nainital in November. Dressing for this in-between weather is a bit of an art and after 10 years of trial and error, I’ve realised that light layering is the ultimate solution to this.
I’m talking about that just-right layer that keeps you warm during the cool breeze and doesn’t roast you alive when the sun peeks out again. And for me, that perfect layer is a vest.
This post is a bit of a love letter to vests, really. They’ve quietly become my go-to garment in Bangalore’s moody climate. They are easy to throw on, stylish enough to look put together, and practical in every way. Over the past year, I’ve collected a few that are appropriate in different occasions, but there’s one piece that stands out and deserves its own moment.
And that brings me to the star of today’s post: a crochet vest that’s as warm (emotionally and literally) as it is stylish.
A vest is the most comfortable garment for me in the bangalore climate. Provides just enough warmth during the sudden temperature drops and also doesn't make me too hot during the golden heat spells of the day.
Now this year crocheted clothes have been trending quite a bit and has actually become one of the most trending things of 2025. Be it crocheted knick knacks or full blown outfits, you can spot atleast on crocheted piece in almost everyone's closet.
The outfit I am wearing is a very basic one, made non basic by my Crocheted vest made with the beautiful granny squares. This vest was made by my Mom and I love how pretty it is and soft because of the woollen yarn.

What I particularly love about this vest is how it adds character to even the simplest of outfits, because of it's stunning colors. I paired it here with a white cropped shirt and a pair of velvet black flared pants , just my usual comfort-first formula. But the vest? It instantly elevated the look. It gives off a retro-meets-artsy vibe, and this was the most perfect outfit for visiting the Museum of modern arts in Bangalore.
What’s special about handmade pieces like these is that they carry more than just style, they carry sentiment. Each granny square is like a stitch of love, a tiny mosaic of time and patience. And wearing something made by your mother? That’s a kind of fashion flex that no designer label can ever match!
With the crochet trend going strong, now’s the perfect time to pull out those handmade gems or even try making something yourself. If you’re not the DIY type (I’m hardly one myself), just convince your mom, aunt, or that crafty friend! I am sure you will end up cherishing it morethan any piece in your wardrobe!
